I'm not fat, but a health survey at work about five years ago said I was 3 lbs overweight at 6'-7" 225. I invited the surveyors to go for a ride with me and they all declined. I've been at this height/weight since about 1986.

I don't feel so bad reading this thread.

6'4" 245. I was down to around 215 when I was working full time with the National Guard. Since I got out, I've slipped.

Most of the time I was drilling, I was running and lost a lot that way. But I was also bikeless. I bought a bike and that's when I learned the hard way that a 5 mile run means nothing on a hill climb.

But I would rather bike 2 miles than run 5. I ride about 20 to 40 miles a week to work and I am trying to get at least one ride a weekend in when there is no race. I am racing downhill this year and am 80% sure I'll race the super-d at Willamette Pass in 2 weeks if the snow melts.

5'10" and 225, down from 250. another 20lbs and i'll be ideal for my bodytype. screw the BMI, that thing is a joke!
Werd! At my height (and body type) if I were to go below 250, I'd be anorexic....but I can bench my weight and run 3 miles in under 20 minutes....but I don't do that very often, cause I HATE running...

so true.......by my height i should be 180+/-......ive still got weight lifting muscle on me cause i can still bend 350# and squat near 750# so i think 220-230 would put me back at my fighting weight

Ok, I haven't been going to the gym and have been busy with school and stuff. This morning I was getting ready for work and noticed my shorts are a tad snug, so I went to the scale.

260!?! Wait a minute, I was 245 what seemed to be just a few weeks ago. So now I'm pissed and am riding, training, hydrating on a whole new level.

I WILL be 215 by the end of the race season. This is pissing me off!

gotta agree with manimal.. i find the bmi a load of crap as well... when i met my missus i was (still 5 11  ) 190 with a 31" waist... she though i was too skinny... i m at 220 / 225 at the moment... 205 - 210 would be an ideal size for me...

You sound like that goober "padre" from mtbidiots. He lives in SoCal and I hope to some day see him on his magical 29er while riding a technical trail here. That levitation or whatever bike looks to have a really high CG and on the tech stuff, I would rather be low. Then again, I don't ever expect to see that dirt roadie on any trail I consider technical.
