Always looking for some inspiration. The best I have had have been bourbon barrel Stouts but I have not had a bad stout or porter so far this year.

Doubt it's available all the way out there, but there's a local brewery her called Surf Brew, their espresso stout is out fucking standing!

Slightly less awesome, but still great, and possibly available on your end of the country, Ballast Point, all their beer is quite tasty.

Yes, I have seen Ballast Point around here. Surf looks like only local distribution. Wish I had know about when I was in LA this summer. I did try a good porter out there Maui Brewing Coconut Porter which will become available in New York very soon.

Before I quit drinking I was a big fan of Pike Streets xxxxx stout. It was tasty and had a hint of black licorice. Dunno if it's still the same, they have changed brewers since I had it last.

Baerlic Brewing in Portland had an amazing Bourbon barrell aged stout that was brewed with coco nibs. Best beer I ever had.

It's terrible, I break out in handcuffs.

:sarcastic:
My boss does not drink, never has. He honestly believes that if he has a beer that he will become some raging out of control lunatic swinging from chandeliers and holding up banks. He lives near you, must be something in the water.

I love me some Porter. Founders Porter is my go to. Mayflower (Ma) is really good. Berkshire Draymans porter (Ma), just tried Revelation Eugene porter, good shit. Out of Chicago I think. Left Hand Black Jack porter is a lighter porter that's still really good. Fiddlehead Brewing out of Vermont makes Hodad Porter in small batches that's out of this world.

On Saturday I was at the Carton Brewery and had some Ship Wreck Porter, it was amazing:

It's not too hard to find St-Ambroise Oatmeal Stout, one of the best oatmeal stouts. Better from the can vs the bottle:

Edit: Almost forgot to mention, one of the best new breweries I've been to - all their beers were great - no duds: http://www.conclavebrewing.com

Not new, but also a great brewery I visited maybe a month ago: http://kennettbrewingcompany.com

what's their current capacity? i wonder if it will affect their status as craft brewers. I think the cutoff for that is what, 6 million barrels annually?
Yes, it's 6 million and they have PLENTY of room. I think they are less than 400,000.
