Changes - David Bowie

I don't know why but I really like it. Very simple, yet pleasing in its simplicity.

i love cake's bassist, gabe nelson.

and my favourite bass lines gotta be (blush) cake's i will survive.
what are yours?
I like the line in Short Skirt / Long Jacket.

However - Jane's Addiction Been Caught Stealing always makes me smile and smack the steering wheel when I drive. :)

Or... Sublime's riot song, well anything on 40oz to freedom is cool.

Or... if we're gonna go back to what I grew up on - The Doors LA Woman, Traffic - Low Spark of High Heeled Boys, Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side.

Not eclectic at all - just old.

ewwwww, you are so old.
Pretty old, but not as old as you think. I first heard that song in a movie called Fandango. Kevin Costner is a UT graduate, surveying the damage of his fraternity's graduation party. Badge is the soundtrack.

Only Lust for Life in Trainspotting is more appropriate.

Front Range, dude...
"The Real Me", the Who, Quadrophenia. Quo fan is spot on, Entwistle was amazing.

"Higher Ground" Red Hot Chili Peppers. Ditto on Caputos input...

"Riviera Paradise" by Stevie Ray Vaughn has some seminal bass work by Tommy Shannon, a highly underated bass player

Roger Waters always seems to come up with tasty stuff.

Les Claypool is a god.

Entwistle was awesome at throwing a bassline that went all over the place but still ended up making sense.

Of course John Paul Jones gets on the list for Ramble On, plus he was a great keyboardist.

Same for Geddy Lee, awesome bassist and good keyboardist too.

Check out the record he did with Diamanda Galas - The Sporting Life

Great bass work on that.

Peter Hook is probably the most inventive bassist - I love the outro to "Perfect Kiss."

Matt Freeman from Rancid is mos def the most underrated bassist. He pulls off some brilliant lines - so clean and so quick.

But my favorite bass line ever is Sabbath's "Paranoid." Nothing comes close, man.

Same for Geddy Lee, awesome bassist and good keyboardist too.

Or the fact that he's working keyboard pedals, playing bass AND singing falsetto runs ALL at the same time while keeping up with Liefson and Peart. Badass.

I'll show my age and put a plug in for "The Lemon Song."
