Colorado Springs /= bay area. "Diverse" is not really a word I'd use to describe the locals.Uh, the Bay Area is the most diverse in America. I hear about blacks/Latinos/Asians/whites going wild-style every weekend.
You tell me.^^^
Hold on a second. Are you a Muslim or a troll?
Your house Maori?I used to have a House Nigger, but now apparently I can't call him that. I don't know what else to call him.
Back home we all had our own Blacky.
I don't know what all the fuss is about.
Stay off Drudge, he can't call em street monkeys on his page. His code word for nigger is "urban"anyone else notice the barrage of news stories relating harrowing accounts of "urban" youths going wild?
with no comparison for other wknds, does the press have an agenda trying to suggest some sort of racial unrest at the nat'l level?
not to get all semantic like on ya but isnt that what the festival in miami is called?Stay off Drudge, he can't call em street monkeys on his page. His code word for nigger is "urban"
you think conservatives' first reaction is to earmark funds for more jails? [not 'you', per se...]More than depressing, this was just sad. Morally stunted people in a morally crippled system. Common sense would dictate that putting more and more people in prison for longer periods of time is no answer. Conservatives love to point out the lack of personal responsibility apparent in many dysfunctional communities but are less comfortable with the suggestion that we all have a collective responsibility to do something. But why do something difficult when we can do something easy like build more jails.
Are we talking about Newt again?whereas in the other a moral failure can be a badge of honor, recognized openly by the tribe.
Agreed, with all of it.I was watching Louis Theroux's special on Miami's mega jails. I think even Louis was appalled as he was way less gonzo than usual. Apart from the voyeuristic aspect of any prison documentary this was interesting as it mostly consisted of interviews with the actual inmates. Four were of particular interest;
-One guy was accused of triple murder. He talked about his upbringing (raised by his grandmother, no mention of his mother) and how all the people around were in a gang and living "the life". He had contact with his father but only to the extent that he'd come around when his son had done something wrong, kick his arse and leave again.
- The guy who said he was glad he was in jail because he didn't have to deal with all the crap on the outside, mother an alcoholic, sister a prostitute, brother a no-hoper. Sounded like an Eddie Murphy skit.
- The 14 year old boy flunking jail boot camp and being sent to an adult prison, having a meltdown and wishing he was dead, sick of this life. 14 years old.
- The last guy was cruising through boot camp but it was obvious that the moment he was released he'd be back to old ways. Boot camp type programs are for politicians who want to appear to be tough on crime. This guy called it "comedy". You could only agree.
