NIDA spokeswoman Shirley Simson told the Times: "As the National Institute on Drug Abuse, our focus is primarily on the negative consequences of marijuana use. We generally do not fund research focused on the potential beneficial medical effects of marijuana."

NIDA presently oversees an estimated 85 percent of the world's research on controlled substances.

IF the science says it's bad, then we can tell the world it's bad and make it illegal. By making it illegal, we have a reason to restrict it and force people to buy our prescription drugs. Plus, we can take those people that 'break the rules' and send them to federal prisons, that are outsourced to prison companies that our politicians have fiscal interests in.
The sheeple will have no idea, because they are too stupid to follow the money, so we can take all of the money.
We can even keep calling it a Democaracy, because they get to vote for their "leaders", even through all the choices are our people...

Look at the ownership of the major companies the run prisons. A good majority before they went public were supported by the Carlyle Group through the early 80's... That's a good coincidence.

in the 1980's eh? Bear in mind that marijuana was criminalized in the US back in 1937.

edit: you might wanna check your facts. Carlyle Group? Early 80's? DNE (Did Not Exist). It wasn't founded until 1987...

Generally yes, but not when the outsourcing is to companies owned by those doing the outsourcing...
