I'm trying to figure out what size rear wheel I have on my Giant DH Comp. I know it's a 10mm thru axle but I don't know how long it is...Anyone have one or have a friend who does, I need this info!

Thanks

It's a 12mm x 135mm hub. The rim is offset 11.25mm to the left from being dished in the center.

Spam: I have 2 built wheels that are in great shape. These are left overs from when I used to ride for a Giant supported team. Both are Hadley hubs with DT Swiss 14/15 spokes and brass nipples. One has a Mag 30 rim laced to it and the other has a Atomic DHR rim. I'll make you a great deal since I will only be using 150mm wide hubs for DH now.

So this measurement applies to the 2004 frames? I'll pass on the good word, I'm actually selling my wheelset from this bike and a guy wants to know what size it is. Basically, it's a special size for giant's only???

The only difference in the 2002,2003 and 2004 frames are small. The 2003 got the Swinger shock, an improved upper shock mount gusset and some snap rings on the linkage. The 2004 got the remote resivour Swinger.

You can dish the wheel back to center for use on another bike if the spoke lengths are just right. Say if you wanted to use it on any bike with a std rear wheel, you just dish it back to center and get the different axle caps from hadley to make it a quick release.

Anyone know why Giant didnt use a 150mm rear hub?? It would have helped the horrendous chainline, and considering the 100mm bb shell it wouldnt be hard to get adequate crank clearance. Sucks to have a chainline that is only acceptable in the two or three highest gears. I still like my 04 team though.

I asked myself that same question all the time. I only thing I can think of was that they had it designed with a 150 and cost reduced it out or that they planned on a floater. As it is designed, a 150mm hub would not have helped the chainline unless you offset the dish even more. It's the 143mm spindle length that is required so that the chainguide clears the swingarm that is the problem. Maybe if you went to a 150 with offset or a 160 it would be better.

BTW: it's actually good to have the wheel offset so the spoke tension is more equal and therefore can be higher.

Yeah the offset or zero dish rear wheel is stronger, but it sure is a bitch when you dont realize your bike has it and build yourself a perfectly true wheel to normal dish
