I'll finally get the chance to visit Diablo next weekend and need advice:
1.) What's the best way to get there?
2.) Do I want to stay overnite at the mountain,
and if not what/where is a good place to stay at?
3.) Do I want to eat/drink at the mountain, or again,
am I better off somewhere else?
4.) How long of a drive is it?

Thanks in advance,
Tim :dancing:

You can get there in just over 4 hours.

Thruway east to 81.
81 south to 17.
17 east to the Goshen/Florida exit.
Follow signs for Route 17A to Florida.
In Florida, take Route 94 West.
Stay on Route 94 (which becomes 94 South) to Vernon NJ.
Continue on 94 South to Mountain Creek.

As far as places to stay if you have a bunch of people you can get a condo near the hill. Or there's Motel 6 type stuff.

The only time I was there we brought a cooler of food so I didn't try buying anything.

What weekend are you going, the 9th or the 16th?

"What weekend are you going, the 9th or the 16th?"

Thanks Echo. Ted and I are going next weekend (the 16th).
Are you gonna show us around?
How far of a drive is the Motel 6 stuff? (in relation to the mtn.)
I'd like to make a reservation, is it Vernon, NJ?
Thanks again,
BTW, we ripped Plattekill a new arse a couple weekends ago!
Flowers and suckers for the wife and kids....again.

Yeah we'll be there too. Ralph knows the trails pretty well, I only went there once so I'll be following him. You are gonna love the big tabletops there.

As far as the motel, I recommend you send a PM to Treesaw, I think she made the reservation there last time so she probably has the info. Or Ralph probably knows too.

So what else can you tell me? Is that a gondola I saw?
Is it crowded? Can you do everything there? Or is there
stuff (like Platty) where you go, "yeah right!"?
And Echo, it looks like at least 5 hrs; you got the VDC 6?

Gondola, yep. You just walk on with your bike and it is high speed to the top. Even on busy weekend you don't wait more than 2 minutes at worst to get on.

Time wise, we often meet at or near the farmington I-90 entrance. From that point you could make it to the mountain in just over 4 hours if you don't stop. It is all expressway driving except for the last 16 miles and most of that is still 55.

One thing to remember, when you are going down 94 looking for mountain creek there is a mountain creek (south or north or whatever) lodge that has nobody there. You need to travel a couple more miles down the road and you will find it no problem.

Actually the way I'm going this time, you will hit Diablo first.

I didn't find anything there as far as huge drops, there is a big 90 degree right hip jump in the berm course that I didn't try, but I know it will be fun and do-able when I finally gather the balls to hit it! Also on one trail (I think it's called Waterboy) there is a thing that you can roll, but if you were agressive about it you could probably drop 15 feet or so.

Which way is that? Was it something like 209 to 23?
Nothin' fancy, just the way I typed in the beginning of this thread... which is pretty much the way they recommend on the Diablo website.
