went to pick up my bike from the shop. they swapped the main pivot bearings and installed my replacement seat and chain stays. I think I overpaid, as I could easily have done that myself (especially when you factor in the time it took me to drive to my LBS), but my back hurt, and I didn't want to deal with the hassle...

happy to have my bike back though, hope to ride this weekend.

We have some pretty strict rules about using removable media at work, based on several rather significant 'incidents'. A coworker just returned from a trade show and plopped a bunch of USB sticks amongst other swag he collected from vendors with a Free sign above them.

I just threw the lot into the garbage.

Actually wrenched on my bike for once. Bled the brakes, monkeyed with my suspension settings, lubed suspension, degreased and lubed the drivetrain. Gonna have to go give it a shakedown tomorrow morning.

took one of my coworkers to the ER this morning with abdominal pain, They did a CT scan then admitted him. After work I went and got his dog from his apartment. The dog will stay with us for the duration of his hospital stay.

what’d the CT show that warranted admission?

I think my Land Cruiser Dream may have become a nightmare.

A simple transmission rebuild has failed and also taken a full year in El Salvador, predictably and inevitably despite my buddy's assurances that he'd work everything out. He says it drives alright but there's still something that feels like it's lagging.

You get what you pay for. This has left no time for the planned engine and body work, either. I'm starting to think it's best to leave this shitshow in El Salvador and recoup what costs I can from all the investment into it. It faces a big paperwork drill for registration, need to re-install emissions gear (though work theoretically pays for that part, by and large, it's likely to be a hassle...), and in the end I have a truck with some underlying front-end damage that would be prohibitively costly to repair properly in the US, with a pretty crappy paint job, and a slipping transmission...which gets 8-10mpg where gas is well over $5.

This just seems like a cut-and-run proposition.

you should bid on my 100 series once I put it on BaT. after getting all these new hail-dents taken out. found two more on the tailgate when looking closer last night.
