I went up to Fernie last weekend, expecting some great riding. (Most riding in B.C. is great.) Instead, I was amazed at what the resort had to offer. Seriously, this place is as fun as Whistler. The great thing is that it's only 7 hr.'s from where I live in Montana. Any of you midwest monkeys or rocky mountain monkeys should seriously check in to Fernie before you make the trip to Whistler. Lift tickets are $25 american, and the resort is laid back and a lot less crowded. My favorite trail was Top Gun, a new trail which follows the same idea as A-line, but with taller, steeper berms, bigger jumps (yes, that's right), and doubles, step ups, and step downs instead of just table top jumps. I was surprised to find several trails with pretty challenging and dangerous stunts on them, including some pretty high, skinny ladder bridges and ladder to ladder gaps and such. You don't find that at a lot of ski resorts. Anyway, I had a great time up there and I'm still buzzing from it. That place is seriously underrated.

I agree. I went to Whistler last month and it was awesome. Now the last 3 weekends I have been to Fernie and plan on going again this weekend. Fernie is ALMOST as good as Whistler. Its only 2 hours from my house too. I will definately get a season pass next year. Fernie just spent $50k on their trails and have lots more to come. You can even stay on the mountain for $40-50 canadian in The Wolfs Den, which is a sweet hotel! Fernie is a hidden gem!!!!

I can honestly say Fernie is as good as Whislter......

I just got back from Fernie and they have the new chair open and 2 new trails and will be expanding the new chair even more next year. The new chair will only be open on the weekends.

Bike Theif is the best trail on the mountain for technical flowy singletrac. There are no stunts to speak of on the trail but it is a 10. Fernie is working on the lower section of the trail that will have some huge stunts. Check it out!!!!!!

The DH course was sweet. It was super fast with a few techy sections. I road up the chair with a Whistler local pro who agreed with me that Fernie is as good as Whistler. He thought that Fernie maybe a little better due to the fact there are NO lines and the trails are BRAND new. Shamus March was there rippin the DH course, too. There were a lot of Canada Pros training for the Race today. GO TO FERNIE.
