I went up to Fernie last weekend, expecting some great riding. (Most riding in B.C. is great.) Instead, I was amazed at what the resort had to offer. Seriously, this place is as fun as Whistler. The great thing is that it's only 7 hr.'s from where I live in Montana. Any of you midwest monkeys or rocky mountain monkeys should seriously check in to Fernie before you make the trip to Whistler. Lift tickets are $25 american, and the resort is laid back and a lot less crowded. My favorite trail was Top Gun, a new trail which follows the same idea as A-line, but with taller, steeper berms, bigger jumps (yes, that's right), and doubles, step ups, and step downs instead of just table top jumps. I was surprised to find several trails with pretty challenging and dangerous stunts on them, including some pretty high, skinny ladder bridges and ladder to ladder gaps and such. You don't find that at a lot of ski resorts. Anyway, I had a great time up there and I'm still buzzing from it. That place is seriously underrated.
