Nope, not an asshole. Trails need to be ridden when wet, otherwise they tend to stay smooth and boring. I believe, you Sir are one of the few who gets it.

I raked out some my damage today. Cleaned my bike and shoes. It was warm today also. I push the mush to the side of trail so that when it is dry they make small berms. I probably shouldn't do that.

In a month it will be under 12" of frozen bombtrack and nothing I have done will matter. Hiking with my brother he shot holes in my efforts to repair anything. He made way points for all my repairs to prove me wrong. He is like you in that respect...

I had to clean a bunch of dried mud off the Moonlander yesterday - was caught by rain a few days ago and returned home over wet clay. That stuff's nasty.
