CONGRESS SCUTTLES NAFTA FOR TEAMSTERS UNION
And speaking of political payoffs, Congress banned all Mexican trucks from US roadways. There had been a demonstration program allowing exactly 97 Mexican trucks to enter for that purpose. Keep that number in mind: 97 Mexican trucks.
Six and a half million trucks (6,500,000 US trucks) ply the highways of America. My calculator informs me that that Mexican trucks comprise 0.001492308% of all the trucks in America. Because of that, at the urging (payoffs) of the Teamster’s union, the Mexican trucks were banned by Congress as part of the Omnibus Spending Bill, cutting the heart out of NAFTA. Retaliating, Mexico immediately raised $2.4 billion in tariffs against US goods that had flowed freely into Mexico since 1994. And for chuckles, they made it a point to discriminate against goods that come predominantly from the districts of Congresspersons most vehement about the trucking fiasco.

$2.4B/95 = $25M per truck. That seems a small price to pay for the pertection of 'Murika from these illegal (legal) immigrants (workers).
