Was a blast. Ok, climbing sucked, partly because I have no BC climbing skills, so sometimes I just slid backwards until I figured out to not ski in the tracks of the person in front of me, plus evidently my gear setup with the G3 skins that don't quite go to the edges of my fat skis is not ideal and significantly decreases my ability to edge while turning uphill, but I made it. Now I feel like I did the day after I first tried snowboarding, where I can't F-ing get out of bed and I feel like I've been beaten to a pulp, but it was still lots of fun and I'll be back for some more. The skis worked damn nice downhill.

Love that area, never skiied it but hiked all over the area. I hope the bugs were better in the winter...
Ain't no bugs.

They are usually around in the spring/early summer.

They'll be back. One time not far from there I wore cologne by mistake because I just went through my normal morning pre-work routine before heading out for a day on the trails. Bugs F-ing love cologne.

Got the much-better skins mounted up. I had some G3s before, but they were too narrow (even though I got the widest ones that were in stock). Made REI take em back because the sales person recommended them and they did not fit. These supposedly grip better and are the correct width. I should at least get to use them next weekend at an Avy class.

DId a day avalanche clinic. Awesome getting to actually use the equipment, find buried probes, etc. No pics, unfortunately (supposedly go-pros and phones interfere with the beacons). I tried to be extra devious when hiding the beacon for my partner, but the equipment works. Thinkin of digging some pits tomorrow on my fatbike ride up around treeline. Course the idea is to never have to use the equipment, but good to know it works.
