Love fishing......mostly flyfishing, but I got bit by the saltwater bug a few years ago, so I try and get down to the coast as much as possible. I do a lot of inshore fishing for red drum, specks, flounder, stripers...that kind of thing. The kinds of fish you have to be real stealthy with....not so much interested in bobbing around out in the big water, although I do like mackerel season and the cobia run. Sorry I don't have any pics---I'm here at work and don't have anything quality to show you at the moment.

Edit: Found a pic of a nice 10 lb. red drum I caught in Wilmington.....bit on a copper-flash clouser I tied the night before in our hotel room.

I enjoy fishing, although this summer I haven't gone nearly as much as I would like. No pics though. It so happens the only time I actually took a picture was of the biggest yellow perch I have ever caught or seen...only to find out there was no film in the camera:disgust:

Fly fishing is fun as a side thing when I'm camping in the Sierras on ride trips. Right now I get bored after a couple hours or so, but I'm an early riser so it works out great for the mornings when others want to sleep in. I can see myself getting into it more when I'm older and riding less. It's new to me but I've recently had some luck getting small and mid-size trout up in the 6,000 - 8,000 foot elevation range, and I'm looking to actually buy a fly rod instead of borrowing.

I fish and fish often. Fly or spin, doesnt matter to me. Trout is okay, but Smallmouth is king here.

Bummer topic for me, used to have 5 weeks vacation per year, changed jobs, now only have 2. Now I only get to fish when my son's not racing. Park City was fun. My handle should give you a clue.

I have been fishing off and on for 22 years now. Luckily my wife enjoys it too and we go fishing a lot. We pretty much stick to bass and recently we both became converts to bass fishing with ultra-light gear. I was messing around with an ultra-light setup a few trips ago and happened to get a smallish bass on the line. Even though the bastard broke my line (due to ignorance on my part), it still refreshed my love for fishing. Now we often will leave our baitcasters at home and bring our little spincast reels and enojy some awesome fights.

i do a little fishing, accually a lot of bass fishing, a little snaging, and a bit of ocean. here is the only picture i have already uploaded.

ive caught bigger, but they are all ****ty cell phone pictures, i think my biggest bass was around 7 pounds, i was thinking about putting a thread up about this, but ya beat me to it.
Picture was taken at lake barret in california:brows: :brows: :brows:

i love bass fishing because i think its the most exciting thing that is local. i cant stand trout because i can see all the damn fish and they dont bite!

Saw this thread go by but was too busy to post but here goes:

My brother and I have been making an annual trip to the Montana/Idaho/Wyoming area for the last few years.

This year we strapped a canoe on my car and headed for the Beavershead river. We found a fly shop that shuttles your car for you which made the floating hassle free. Sweet! This river has multiple take out/put ins giving you alot of options for floating. It also meanders like crazy giving you three miles for every mile as the crow flies.

Here's a German Brown I yanked out of a nice little backwash.

Then we headed up into the Bitterroots to a lake we've been meaning to try out. The lake sucked for spinning but the fly guys were ripping it up. We had better luck in the inlet/outlet streams.

Finally we headed over to Rock Creek to a spot we've been to before. There's this nice hole that undercuts a big cliff face creating some deep water and it's never let us down.

I've been out on Lake Tahoe many times with a co-worker. He's got the boat, gear, knowledge, etc, and I just reel them in. Mainly macks, though we did catch a 'bow once. Doesn't matter to me if we catch anything-- the worst day fishing is better than work any time (I know- tired cliche'). Haven't gone out in a while, though.

I love fishing and have enjoyed it for even longer than riding...though I go through ebbs and flows as to which I favor at any given time. These days, I basically let the moon phase and weather determine which I'll pursue. Ideally, I do both- fish from pre-dawn until 10:00am, ride from 10:00am until pre-dusk, then fish until I get tired or hear the B's calling me. I like fishing both fresh and saltwater, but as my cartopper and motor are designed for freshwater, I fish fresh 95% of the time.

In order of my preference, I like fishing for:
*Smallmouth Bass aka Bronzebacks
*Largemouth Bass aka Bucketmouths
*Striped Bass(or hybrid) aka Striper or(incorrectly) Rockfish
*Kentucky Bass aka Spotted Bass
*Rock Bass
*Muskellunge aka Muskie, regular or Tiger(sterile muskie/pike hybrid)
*Northern Pike(or smaller relative, Chain Pickerel)
*Trout(Rainbow, Brown or Brook)
*Catfish(Blue, Channel or Shovelhead)
*Carp(Grass, Buffalo or Bullhead)
*Bluefish
*Crappie
*Panfish(Bluegill, Red-eared Sunfish or Shellcracker)

The saltwater fishing I do tends to be either chartered for striper or headboat for whatever the hell I can land amidst the tangle of lines. I have pics of only a few of my catches as my cartopper is too small to accommodate others comfortably while fishing and when I land a fish worth photographing, it is very difficult to do so while holding it. I practice catch & release for 99% of the fish I catch and I'd frankly rather release a fish stressed as little as possible than photograph it for "proof". Of all species, only my largest striper and bluefish were caught on film...and only because I was on charter boats with several friends who could put down their own lines long enough to snap a shot of my catch.

I used to do a lot of bass fishing at Lake Casitas in southern California when I was growing up. I mean a LOT, pretty much every other day or more. Then I went to college in Monterey, no bass fishing. I started fishing again a few years ago, mostly surf fishing around Monterey, at some point I was again fishing most every other day or more. For a while I wasn't working and my days were spent surfing in the morning and fishing at night. That was rad, except I ran out of money, which wasn't so rad.

Now, I do some bass fishing every couple of weeks or so at the man made, carp and koi filled, not enough largemouth bass lake behind my house. I rather miss Monterey, but I don't miss he commute.

Thats some pretty big bass, i saw a 22 pounder (world record) in a tank in texas, about 8 years ago.
Actually, the official world record 22 pounder was caught(and kept) by George Perry in GA in 1932. The unofficial world record is THIS behemoth 25 pounder caught in CA earlier this year.

link==> http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/fishing/news/story?page=f_fea_bass_world-record_Weakley_25.1&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab5pos1

The 25#er is the 3rd pic and the first two were mondo catches from the same CA lake, Lake Dixon.

Foul-hooked, if I remember correctly. That's an honest fisherman, right there.

ya, that lakes like 20 miles from my house
BTW, I really doubt the fish was foul hoked, they were dragging a swimbait over its head for hous, Most of the fishing peole I know think it was snaggedpurposely.

I caught two micropterus salmoides this past Sunday morning, but didn't feel they were good candidates for pictures. Unfortunately, <12" bass just don't look impressive when held by a guy 10,000% bigger. :brow:
