I know a guy with the Yoshimuras. His opinion is kinda worthless since he doesn't really notice small details, but I should borrow them to see how they compare.
I have a set of the fancy NSB Daemon pedals and they grip less than the Tenets. I even replaced their silly machined pins with grub screws, and my feet still regularly come of the pedals in places they don't with Tenets. They're gorgeous though, so they live on my DJ.

Haven’t had any grip problems with my daemons, but I only have a handful of real rides on them. I don’t suspect I’ll have issues in that dept.

In a van.... down by the river
That's some strange wall art to hang in el castillo casa de skaredshtles
When I was riding at Curt Gowdy this weekend I noticed a wee bit of play in my left Xpedo Spry. It *sorta* looks like I may be able to service them, but TBH they're not particularly great pedals, and the shitty pins are pretty annoying.

So basically I was forced into buying the Tenets. :homer:

ETA: I also came *really* close to trying on a pair of Ride Concept shoes - goddam those things are light compared to my old-ass 5-10 Impacts.

Whoa shit, really? That's up there, the Reverse ones are 70 Euro.
You should try the Issi Stomps so I don't have to be the test pilot.

EDIT- I didn't realize the Tags weren't reverse mounted pins, I thought that they were the same as the Tag Metals Plastics-

These are pretty much identical to Nukeproof Electrons, Cube, etc. HT-produced plastic pedals. Buy whichever you get cheapest.

Did you not get the right pins for the Spry? https://xpedo.com/product/parts/small-parts/twin-tip-pin-kit/
Sadly I cannot get them in Europe. Otherwise the Spry would be favorite trail pedal (if I am not clipped in).
BTW, Sprys work better with 5.10 Freeriders than Impacts.

Pulled the trigger on the vaults. Found a sweet deal on them on bikester around 20% off.
Keep on eye on the seals - if they pop out you might have the start of that bushing issue I mentioned earlier. If not and you got a good set then they're mint and will last years. Mine have been brutally dragged across rocks all over the world and are still going strong, if a little squeaky and needy these days.

The only time I checked for the "right" pins, the were, of course, out of stock. And I've mauled a bunch of the pins (tore them out) and it buggered the threads so badly I couldn't put replacements in. So right now I have a pair of pedals missing a bunch of shit-shape pins with one sloppy axle. Into the "backup" bin they go.

Well NOW you tell me. Thanks a whole fuckin' lot. :D

Thanks for mentioning that. Will do. Worst case scenario will order that service kit from DMR. I forgot about tthem being a choice before I saw that vital piece and I like that shape of pedals

You are welcome! Flexible-soled shoes seem to be the ticket with them.
OK, seems like you have the same problem in the US as in Europe. They are sold out here as well....for years already.

Yeah that's what I found.

I recommend adding blue threadlocker to the pins before you ride the Vaults, to avoid loosing some of them.

But that sport is the best because there is 1 country where that sport is only partly rich assholes exclusive
Someone was commenting in another thread that Jackson Goldstone was a rich kid or whatever, and I'm like yeah compared to all the other MTBers riding $10K rigs in ski resorts.... hahaha.

That's a bigger topic. DH is not cheap but it was never surrounded by a culture of elitism. I think we may be quite far from billionaires and CEO's doing business while throwing some sick scrubs.

Still yeah DH is expensive and it's getting worse. I don't envy kids who want to get into the sport now. Weirdly it seemed easier 10-20 years ago.

Getting to WCs 20 years ago was super easy. Now just getting the points is a friggen expensive and super difficult exercise. Not that its a bad thing really - it is supposed to be the pinnacle of the sport, there should be obstacles to prevent mid-pack Expert riders cluttering the course for the pros.

But even at a State or National level it's gotten pretty restrictive as well which is a bit of a downer. The DH race bikes are more specialist now than they've ever been, to the point they're not even much fun or good to ride on the less challenging bikepark trails. You really have to be super dedicated or have some good stuff nearby to justify the expense or having one.

Back on topic - anyone tried the Nukeproof Horizon pedals for a decent time? Hows the axle strength?

They're the same axle design as HTs.
it's pretty solid. but definitely not the absolute strongest design out there

it's an afluent family sport. being rich creates a massive advantage for any kid
