ok so my floater for my bb7 showed up today. i noticed the clearance sucks w/ it. did i install it wrong or do you jus have to have spacers to make it clear the tire better?im running a 2.5 mobster and it barely clears. also what do the other holes for it to mount to do?

most of them are pretty close...do you hav any pics? I have a floater on the Diesel and I can just fit a 2.5 in the rear....maybe try running a 2.35 or spacing it out a bit....do you really need larger than 2.4 for a rear tire?....D

In an old issue of MBA the guys stated that the rear end is just narrow. Nothing bigger than a 2.5 and even then some rubbing might happen. I'd probably just stick to a 2.35 in the rear. They ran michie tires and they seemed to fit OK but they still had rubbing issues on the chainguide and inside rear chainstays.

I feel ya though in the limited rear space deal for tires. My cortina I thought I could fit a 2.4 or 2.5 but I was way wrong. Some 2.35's fit, 2.25's are close, 2.1's are perfect so that is what I have to run. It's more of a trail/XC bike anyways but there's just not much room back there.

I ran a 2.5 mobster with no problem. My chaingiude was the limiting factor though, not the floater.
Is there a spacer between the rod end and the frame? Mine came with one. It was black, about 1/4" long. I'm not sure if this was a stock part of if the previous owner added it.

Yeah, on the BB7 you'll probably have contact with the chainguide/tire first. Unless you're running like a 128mm spindle bb, but in that case, your chainline would be terrible. What guide/bb are you using, I'm curious.
