I just picked up an 06 Izumu as my race bike for this year. It had the option of the floating brake that year but the previous owner opted against it. Should I try and get the floater kit, or race it as is. I haven't finished building it yet, so I can't judge the jack yet. My initial thought is it is just more weight and another part to bend in a crash. I tend to adjust braking anyway when a bike jacks up.

I had the floater on mine, and it works, but I personally liked it better without it. I would just ride it first and see how do you like the bike, if you see that you need it, you can always get it later

My roommate has the floating brake for his Izumi, he's never used it and I donlt think he's really planning on it. I can ask him if he'd wanna see it if you are really interested.

Try it and see... it won't kill you to ride without it.
