Is the Haka overdone by NZ sports teams?
Pretty much every NZ national side now does the Haka before any kind of international match, even wheelchair basketball. I have not grown up in NZ but even since I've been here it seems frankly a little overdone now. It's kind of embarrasing.
I personally think Kiwi international sports teams should save it for finals. It's not special or even impressive anymore. It's just done too much. I think the new Haka is a response to the fact the old one was so played out, but no-one wants to admit that. Also to be kinda sexist here, but you really shouldn't let the Silver Ferns do it. Personally I'd restrict it to Rugby, and international finals only. Maybe then it could still be cool.
Flame away.
