An evangelical leader is calling for a boycott of Glenn Beck's television show and challenging the Fox News personality to a public debate after Beck vilified churches that preach economic and social justice.
The Rev. Jim Wallis, president of Sojourners, a network of progressive Christians, says Beck perverted Jesus' message when he urged Christians last week to leave churches that preach social and economic justice.
Beck told his audience that they should leave churches that preach "economic and social justice." Wallis says Beck compared those churches to Communists and Nazis.

Wallis says at least 20,000 people have already responded to his call to boycott Beck. He says Beck is confusing his personal philosophy with the Bible.

"He wants us to leave our churches, but we should leave him," Wallis says of Beck. "When your political philosophy is to consistently favor the rich over the poor, you don't want to hear about economic justice."

Been on a few dates with chick whom I am finding out is a very serious Christian. I have given her no reason to believe that I am anything else other than a bound for hell free thinking heathen and doesn't seem bothered by it. I wonder how she will react when I order the aborted crack baby rib roast at dinner tomorrow?

Westy, I have been down that road before multiple times. Turn around. Please.

There's a handful of possible scenarios for you:
1. She doesn't seem to mind because she sees you as lost soul that she must (and can) save
2. She's in the process of figuring out "free thinking" and abandoning here faith, which produces two more possible outcomes:
(a) sex will constantly be followed by guilt and weeping
(b) she will go bi-polar on you

not to rant or anything....

Having been there myself, this is very, very, true. Run. Run like the wind.

My sister is a totally bitchin Christian woman. You could hang out with her for a long time and never even know her religious beliefs. And even once you get to know her good enough, her jesus-y-ness is nice, refreshing, uplifting and action oriented (vs. that non active sitting on a pew kind of thing). However, if you want to get in her panties you better have a ****ing church and be a man of god. She's awesome as **** if you aren't trying to **** her.

Does your sister live in Virginia?

I'm pretty much just going to lay it out there and tell her I am a devout orthodox pagan and see if it is a problem.

I have a church and I am a man of god. My church is singletrack and my messiah is a blue Turner Flux.

Go ahead and give her the "backslider", it's not like you're trying to despoil a muslim extremist with brothers that have homicidal homosexual tendencies. If it doesn't work out, in her mind it's all an act of providence anyways...

Westy's hook up life is obviously more exciting than Glenn Beck, it's good to see Monkies have good priorities.

Of course it didn't work. She had previously asked a mutual friend friend about me. The friend, who doesn't know me very well, told her I was a good christian boy. It seems that if you are a good person you must be christian. She was pretty upset when I told her I was a hell-bound godless heathen.
