We're sorting out the wedding stuff already (too much crap omfg), and in a bid to amuse myself I am starting registries at any location I feel can be fun. So far we have the standards: Bed, Bath, and Beyond (I've already heard it...Home Depot yadda yadda), Crate & Barrel, Williams-Sonoma, etc. I'm trying to think of mre *creative* non-traditional locations as well. I have added HomeDepot and REI already. Any other ideas? Where did you guys register?
*On a side note, I can't believe I'm talking about this crap.

Your local porn emporium.

You never know how well you know your future significant other.

Considering the abuse you take, I'm surprised also.

clichés are clichés for a reasons. We registered at those places too and my wife is very knowledgeable about such stuff, especially kitchen things. Those places simply work

We registered at Kitchen Etc (no longer in business) and Bed Bath and Beyond. We had a hard time picking out enough stuff to get onto the registry. We didn't register for any fine china or silverware, which meant we had to pick out all kinds of other crap we didn't really need so people would have gift ideas. As much as the idea of a gift registry seems cheesy to me, it sure as hell beats getting a dozen vases and/or picture frames.

We registered at Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, and Macy's I think.

But not to worry. I made sure we registered for a box of Frosted Flakes at Target. I hope we get it! :D

When we got married, we already owned a house together so there wasn't anything we really needed. We registered at Target and picked out various electronic items and some odds and ends we needed.

<edit> now that I think about it, marriage counsling is always a good gift

Not true - I prefer giving money to newlyweds - its the one thing that is truly useful for starting a life together. Plus its much easier to celebrate with money since toaster ovens don't drink or dance. :monkey:

tacky

weddings are supposed to be a celebration, not an opportunity to get money wherever you can.

We did Target, BB&B and Sears I think. We tried to pick things that everyone would have around them.

All said and done we ended up getting more gift cards and money than we thought. I put some tools that I needed on the registry. I didn't get one. Do people really think tools aren't a necessity? Any Home Depot gift cards we got my wife said were mine to get tools. I think we got one card for $20...

We registered at Linens 'n' Things, I think, and just put the word out. We put the word out for gift cards to Home Depot, Rona, Totem, etc, etc...

"Presentation Preferred" was put on the invite because most of our family is of the opinion that the registry is just a suggestion and any random variety of that item will suffice. We still got the $30 blender...exactly the same one that I already have.

We were given around $10k in cash and $2500 in gift cards....helped us buy a bed, couch, nice tv/sound system, finish the garage, go on a trip. Not exactly things that can go on a registry and we already had all the small crap...

I always give cash. From the folks I have spoken to it is the most apreciated gift too. It may be different with close family but it is not like someone is going to hand down some knick knack to their children as the heirloom that the drunk guy who puked in the punch bowl gave them.

Oh, you should register here, too:

Complete tangent here, but is this the cheapest site to buy beer online? I was searching for a place to buy Dogfish Head 60 online. It 2.01 a bottle on there.

We registered I think at Macy's and now have 12 place setting of dishes, silverware and fancy glasses we never use. That was all given to use at the Bridal shower.

The wedding was all cash gifts.

I don't know, really. I was looking at the Deschutes Brewery's website to find local distributors, and they suggest using that site for anyone outside their distribution range (which is pretty much confined to the PNW).

Be prepared for:

I would friggin choke somebody if they gave me a cat for my wedding..
:twitch:

I'm one of those people who has EVERYTHING already. We're trying to register.. but it's usually like: "Well, I guess we could use a bigger one of those."

How do you say you would prefer cash to crap without being tacky? I hate asking for stuff, and will not do a money tree. But considering I'll probably end up paying for a good portion of the wedding.. money would be nice.

Besides, most of the stuff I actually want is way too expensive. Kinda why I don't have it.
