Big-ted is legit. I met him at some random gas station in some weird town that I had never been too before. We did the exchange of parts there.

FYI, my machinist has told me we should be good to go again in another week or two. However, the anodizing is going to be considerably more, so how many I go ahead with will depend strongly on how much interest there is in a second batch. Price will be the same fyi.

Hey All. I posted this on another thread but thought it belonged here as well. Put me down as another very excited Zee/9spd X0 user! I've got a SC Blur LT2 with X0 9speed and didn't want to change everything over. I bought a Zee wide range derailleur and a RaceFace 30t chainring and lost the front shifter and derailleur. I had intended on installing the spacer that Big Ted has so brilliantly put together (others as well) but tried without and it is shifting very well. I get all 9 gears quietly and effectively. I did install a new chain and my cassette is also near-new so maybe that makes a difference. I may have to change eventually but this is great for now.

Keep an eye out for the chain skipping down to a smaller cog when under power in the high gears or catching on the next bigger cog in the low gears, usually immediately after a downshift. These are the side-effects of a derailleur that moves a little too far with each shift. I set up a friend's 11-28 Saint/Sram bike with no adapter or swapped cable placement and it's perfect in the middle 3 cogs, a hair off in 3 and 7, but cable tension looks uncomfortably slack in 8 and tight in 2. It pulls really hard against the low limit screw in 1st. He's happy with the performance and hasn't had any skipping but for me that's just not good enough.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye on it. I'm pretty fussy with these things so if it is off at all, I'll use the spacer. Currently, the chain is perfectly centered on my 36t cog and not far off way down on the 12t (it's a heavy HG61 cassette). It changes to all gears without skipping or 'ramping' on any of the other cogs. I'm sure I will eventually need to fabricate something but it seems fine for now.

big-ted, you can make a living selling your adapter. I know I'm interested. I have an x9 shifter and a xt mech. I was planning to attempt to make an adapter, but would rather have one that is proven to work. Please let me know when you have more. Thanks

New batch being made next week, if not before the weekend. A warning though, I'm having to get them anodized elsewhere, so I would guess 3 weeks before I'm ready to start taking money & shipping them out.

Big-ted better watch his back. The obsolescence police are going to throw him in the back of a van one of these days...

Totally happy with mine on the DH bike. Running it 5 speed with a Saint clutch derailleur and an X.0 shifter. Works flawlessly.

I'll buy one when they are ready. Thanks for doing this. I just picked up an XT derailleur on ChainLove but didn't really want to have to upgrade my whole drivetrain, so this way I can keep my X0 shifter and 990 cassette.

Discounted for non-ano, expedited version?

3+ months of flawless operation with XO/XT + Shimano cassette.
Shifts better than SRAM XO 10 spd full group.

2nd this, if you have some non anodized ones available now I would take one. I am sending out parts for anodize at work this week and could toss it in...

Ha, I bought it a week or two ago but it hasn't come in yet since I did the wait 5 days thing and picked the cheap shipping, but there were a few left when I ordered one.

Sorry. The parts are going straight from my machinist to the anodizers to save time. Splitting the batch is just going to be too much hassle.

I had posted an interest in a second batch adapter previously, it's been awhile so I figured a reminder wouldn't hurt. I don't want to get left out of the second batch.

Hopefully the parts get sent to ano this week. My machinist is kind of doing these as a favour for me around his other projects, so in fairness to him I can't lean on him too hard!

Thanks for all the interest here & via pm. I'll keep everyone posted.

Boom.

I've updated the original post with payment details. $20 plus postage, where postage is:

$2 within Canada
$3 within the US
$4.50 rest of world

That postage is good for at least 5 pieces, so no need to pay for more postage if you want more than one.

Payment to rob[dot]stead2[at]gmail[dot]com. I'll see if I can keep track of everything via PayPal, but feel free to post any questions here or contact me via PM.

What a great find. I would like to be on the list for one of the spacers.

Thanks for the work big-ted
