The Ariel Atom is by far my favorite car right now.
just because it's street legal? a formula ford or the like would be fun, too... :)

Street legal, cheap, purpose built, can handle speed bumps, probably gets good mileage, has a trunk :D
the only place you can really wring out a car like that is the track, so the only advantage it really has is being able to drive it in to show off to your co-workers.

In the GT40 episode, when Jeremy Clarkson says "if you don't get it fixed, I'm going to bone your dog." I wonder if he realizes that the word can have a much different meaning here. Probably not, but it was pretty funny...

I like the Atom because if I wanted to, I could buy one. I can't say that about any of the other top 10 cars on the Top Gear list. If I lived in California or Arizona, I would order one this summer. Oregon is in question though.

An unproven rip-off compared to an Atom or Radical. None of its performance claims have occured yet - just "predicted"

Here is the real king...

Radical SR8 550kg for 60K pounds (they make an SR9 now):

Radical SR8 smashes Nürburgring lap record by over 20 seconds - Video

(there is a video with sound elsewhere, but I forget the URL)
The £60,000 Radical SR8 is in reality a road-legal race-car powered by a high-revving 2.6-litre V8 engine, built in-house by Powertec, developing 360bhp at 10,500rpm. During the run it reached a peak speed of 161mph, while the aerodynamics generate two and a half times the downforce of the SR3; combined with some very trick dampers, this set-up enabled the extraordinary cornering speeds required for a sub-seven minute lap.

He crosses the line less than seven minutes since he was last there, covering the 12.9 miles at an average speed of 109.5mph. Just imagine what he could have done on slicks! (note - To break the production car lap record, the SR8 needed to be road legal, which means an SVA test and of course road legal tyres.)

But you can use it on the road/highway, even narrow european roads:

On the road

On the highway
How does it do on road trips?

Can it carry two bikes (5spot and Fly) and enough gear for an extended riding trip?

If I was going to drop that kind of coin on a track car I would go the Radical or SR3 route.

The "
" is a worthy video...especially the last minute or so....

i would sell my children and my childrens children for that Bugatti Veyron. Then I'd sell everything I own to afford the upkeep
