Hi,

Does anyone else make replacement fork guards for a Dorado, Manitou want like $ 95 for them " ouch" and Go-Ride no longer make them for Dorados.

Or if anyone else has a spare set I would be interested.

Go-Ride not making them anymore  I just broke mine and was going to order another set from Go-Ride this is no good. Maybe this is a good enough reasson for me to try the new 888? :)

Just a thought.....you guys might be able to make some guards from a white brothers' fork work. They're easy to drill into to make holes for whatever the pattern is on the legs of your dorados. I think I paid about $35 for them.

Hi,

Have you tried it? Not so sure that it will be an easy fit since the Dorado guards have little angled extension off the middle so they can clear the axle hold down and be screwed into the side there.

No I haven't tried it, that was just a suggestion. I'm broken right now so I won't be seeing anyone's bike with a dorado anytime soon. The reason I suggested the WB guards is that they are really simple. They're pretty much just plastic sleeves that are malleable and can be bent to fit a different radius of a different fork. They do taper in a little where the screw holes are so the diameter of the guard itself is bigger than the uppers of the fork.

I'm not sure what you mean by the axle hold down. If you could send me or find a picture of what the lower stantions look like, I could at least give you an opinion of whether or not the WB guards could be made to work. If you didn't live in canada, I'd just mail one to you so you could check it out. See if you can find a decent pic. I'll look around as well.

I have a set of the go-ride ones and they don't have that little angled bit anyway. They just attach to the stachion (sp) tube to that bracket thing with 2 bolts, not the four like on the normal guards. They also don't wrap around the fork leg as far so offer less protection that the standard ones.

I bought a set and they are sitting in my tool box. Im going to keep using the manitou ones. Better fixing to the leg and offer more protection.
