So, early this year, Rocky used 10mm ‘extended’ lower cups on most of their bikes (supposedly due to some supply line issues?).
Dumb Q here…if they feel that geo is optimized with the extra 10mm and a 170mm fork, why wouldn’t I just want to run a 180mm fork, and ditch the lower cup for a normal one?
I can’t see why not, but I might be missing something here.
Thoughts?
Try it Nao?

Technically a 180mm set at x% sag will feel squishier than a 170mm + 10mm cup at the same x% sag, and sit a bit lower.

Were they using the external cups because they couldn't get ZS cups, or because they couldn't get 180mm forks?

Zs cups, from what I understand. But it made no sense to me, in my thinking, all of the Geos would be off, the HTA by about 1/2 a degree. I guess people liked them just fine like that.

Just make sure the fork won't hit the down tube if you swap the extended cup for a ZS.
