Is it normal to hear the oil in a Monster T or any fork sloshing around ?

When I change the oil, what brand & weight for a 170 lbs, rider doing 6 or so feet to flat ?

It is normal to hear it sloshing around. It isn't normal to hear a slurping sound when you compress the forks -- that means there's air trapped in your cartridge or your oil level is low.

If you're just doing drops, and not taking it up to high speeds, try 10 wt, but you won't need any higher than that. As for brands, whatever high-quality synthetic your local MX shop carries will work fine. Marzocchi techs swear Golden Spectro is by far the best. My local shop was like "that crap? Silkolene is hands down the best..." I reckon they're all about as good, as long as you get their "race-quality" full synthetic. I've used PJ's, Golden Spectro, and Silkolene all with good luck. Maxima and Bel-Ray are also reputable.
