Forks of Choice

I decided I am going to build my own DJ bike (STP Frame) and got all the parts sussed except for forks.
I want the Fox 831's but they are just way too expensive
How can I make sure the forks will fit an STP. What steer tube length?
How does say extra 20mm travel affect handling?

Would this fit? Or something similar..http://cgi.ebay.com/2010-Fox-32-F100-RL-15mm-Suspension-Fork-1-1-8-OE-7-8_W0QQitemZ220589104443QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCycling_Parts_Accessories?hash=item335c229d3b#ht_1811wt_939

Thanks

roughly every inch of fork travel added or shortened will change the headtube angle by 1°. adding 20mm of travel will steepen the head angle and handling will be a lil slower.

giant site doesn't have the head tube length listed. i'm  why some co's don't provide this info. 7.8" should be ok. also that fork is listed as 'rugged cross country'.

Hmm, I noticed that but I have seen it on DJ bikes before..
I would rather a fork specific for DJ.
What about zochi X4 RC3? They decent?

I have an STP. If I remember, I can measure the headtube when I get home.

If you can't find it before hand..

four inch travel works best on those frames, I think.
