Is this a place of fun and hobby for you or do you see it more as an industry site?

I ask cuz I joined a professional site last week and was annoyed by the bullsh!t there... I mean, it's an industry site, talk about it, go have fun somewhere else.

So it occured to me, what if many of y'all see this as a serious industry site? Maybe the fun bullsh!t here annoys you?

the lounge is the Asshattery side of the industry.... if you dig into the other forums you hit the good info.

This is barely an MTB site to me. Its more a poltical/chit chat site. I like the ride reports, but MTBR typically has more and better ones from more exotic locales. Im still RM all teh way tho.

I think RM is the best of both worlds.

It's a collective of a lot of industry people AND Pro Racers (mostly found in the downhill section) who like a free-exchange of ideas. Then there's this forum for everything in between.

RM is mature enough (compared to PinkBike) to have an educated discussion about something, but at the same time dosen't take itself too seriously.

I definitly dont see it as a industry site, but the contribution of industrie folks and the typical ridemonkey humor combined make this site one of the best on the web imo.
Its about bikes, every day issues, politics, about life basically.
I think it rocks.

It's entertainment as far as I'm concerned. Fun to see perspectives of people who have nothing in common other than a love of biking.

Plus it's priceless to see some whiner flip out, create threads, and threaten and PM all the mods when his sacred text is defiled by a power hungry jerk moderator :D

It just for fun. To be honest I'm not that into talking about bikes anymore. When it comes to biking I'd just rather ride than discuss the merits of trapezoidal shaped tire knobs.

The bike industry is fun and it's total BS, so RM is perfect for it.

BS annoys me... people having fun doesn't.
Yeah he annoys me too sometimes.

"Industry site"? Ummm... I would think that an industry site would be limited to those in the industry only.

I see this site as one of the better MTB boards out there. The lounge is indeed asshattery but the other forums can be quite helpfull from time to time.

I never thought of this place as an industry site.

i always viewed the lounge as a place for all you white collar wannabes to cut loose and talk, while you spend your hum-drum workdays stuck between herman miller partitions and your creativity stifled.
