I saw a couple of them in use up at Northstar back in October so they do really exist outside of the pro rider circuit. I personally don't know anyone that has one yet though. Everyone is buying 888's it seems.

Ok, so I'm seeing that these are on sale now through various online merchants. Anyone taken the plunge yet and order one? Or better yet, actually have one?
I personally know at least 4 guys that WORK at Fox who want one and they don't even have 'em yet. I'll let you know if anybody in that group winds up getting one.

Hmmm. Well, that maybe true, but you also have to remeber that these guys have been pining for this fork from waaaay before we even knew it existed.

Imagine this, you are the engineer who is developing the fork. You are getting bugged at work everyday by your co-workers to let them test-drive the new fork, for like a year straight, but you can't let them. Then when it finally goes to production, making those guys wait some more? I'm thinking they will probably get one before a lot of consumers, but maybe not the first ones off the line.

People who make comments about the cost of these forks need to realize that it is in fact not "overpriced" Fox will make the same margin off of this fork as they do on any other fork in their line. People wanted a light super tunable, travel adjustable DH fork that hopefully is both strong and mechanically reliable. Fox has delivered (hopefully) and that means the cost to produce is very high, hence a seemingly high retail price. But there are plenty of more affordable options so choose one of those and STFU OMFG!!!! :dead: :dead: :dead:

Fox has been taking orders on these and the 36 for about 3 months, they are working right now on the first batch and those should be ready some time this coming week. After that a second batch will go into production due to ship later in the month. This is straight from the horses mouth.

I put a 36 on pre-order back in October, at least this way I had 3 months to save up some dinero! :D

werd!

For some reason these guys accept that Avy stuff is pricey and to them it's justified because Avy stuff has always been pricey but Fox has made mostly "affordable" products that the average Joe could get their mitts on. Now that they offer premium products too, some people are having a hard time seeing that dimension of the Fox brand. I guess the perceived value is the problem...

oh, thats because Avys are 'hand made' (with machines) and 'custom tuned' (because they rely on basic shim stack technology). Oh and hard anodized (like the sliders on every fork). Did i mention bling (a word that makes me gag)?

Damnit for $1,600 I want the mill to be powered by genuine Mexican day-laborers!!!! Oh yeah and no CNC programming, I want an on site engineer directly inputting the design specs in realtime dictating to the Mexicans exactly how fast they need to run and which direction to make a pass!!!

Isn't everything "hand-made" in the same sense that everything is "natural"...

What would you rather have a world cup Boxxer or Dorado for $1,400 or a Fox for $200 more??? Which one is the "better value"...

heh, i love that 'hand-made' spiel. "I bought this USA frame because its 100% hand-made so its quality!"...like what, frames in other countries are made by robots? hell, if robots could fully fabricate a bike I'd buy it in a flash, at least i'd know the robots werent gettin pissed the night before, or were up all night dealing with screaming 2 year olds or a crack habit....

yeah but even the robots are manipulated by human hands. It's not like they came up with the ideas on their own...

get my drift? :D

I agree though that machines are more reliable in the end.
