I am buying a 2014 gt fury with the Fox 40R. Any input on these forks? I know they are the budget open bath versions of the 40. If my memory is correct many other well performing damper such as the avalanche cartridges are open bath. Anyone have input or riding time on one of these budget forks ?


I have been riding a 2011 boxxer wc for the last 3 seasons and sorta happy with it.

The Avalanche kit for the Fox 40 is semi open bath, as per the website. While all the other cartridges for various forks are fully open bath. Not sure why Craig went that way with the 40 but there must be a reason. Read up on what he says on his website about the cartridges, how they're made and how adjustable they are. Worse case scenario is you run the budget version of the 40 for a while and upgrade to the Avalanche cartridge later.

i always wondered about this fork.. does anyone know if the springs are the same as the pre-2013 chassis?
