i'm getting a fox dhx for my turner afterburner DH (RFX like) do it all bike. it will be used for DH, dirt jumps and some light (super light) corss country rides, i will swap the forks between a 888 7" go-ride crowns which will bring the AC lower than a super t or fox DH and a '05 Z1 depending on the application.

i have used the old fox RC, romics and avy, but have no idea of the SPV shocks and wanted to know which spring rate i should order with the shock.

on the romic i used a 450lb and a 600lb on this bike, the 450 felt good in small bumps but on 5-6 foots it bottomed hard, on the contrary the 600lb felt good on the drops, but on small bumps the rear wheel was bouncing all over.

if it helps, on the '04 DHR i use an avy with a 450lb and its heaven, saddly i have to sell her and keep just the burner DH as my all around bike.

my weight 160-165 and by the way i did some search and found very good info from Jm, darren (push) and others. just hope it fits ok in the frame.

DHX owners pls post weight and spring rate.

spring rate is a function of the bike, so unless we have the same bike...

which spring rate using the other shocks gives you the correct sag? because thats what you'll need, the other damper adjustments will prevent the bottoming out.

but from what you said, the 450 sounds more in the ballpark. You should call Turner for the best info tho

I run a 400lbs on my DHX 5.0 and I weigh 155-160. But you should call Turner or Fox for the correct spring rate for that frame. If you ran a Fox RC on that frame the spring rate should be close.

thank you all for the input.

zedro... you are right about the frame design, tks. for the heads up, that's why i decided to ask here at ridemonkey, since oly and jcarpenter ride 5 spots and the DHX, not an engineer, but design looks very similar.

at the end i'm going to follow the advice from go-ride and order it with a 500# spring, which makes sense to me since the 450# on the romic was too soft.

tks. again

I found that i like a similar spring to what i ran on an RC.You could go 50lb softer and run more sag but get similar bottoming to the RC-since i'm running the same lb spring i get the same sag so my bb doesn't get too low and enjoy the extra confidence of the bottoming resistance.
PS the Mojo calc seems a bit soft to me by about 50 lbs,i wonder what formula they're using, and if it is modified for the DHX,if so it looks closer to being correct.

alternatively the Mojo calc is 60# heavier for me...really its pretty rediculous to have an all-purpose calculator; with my adjustable linkage, i can get almost an inch difference in sag using the same coil in different setups.

I guess so. Less of them smarts required.

See if you can get it to work. I can't. I'm sure that's a much better version than the fox/mojo one.
It works fine for me.

I'm getting a Dhx for the heckler. 2.25 stroke w 5.6"ish inches of travel. I weigh 230 lbs. Fox recomends 600lbs and so does Mojo(619). I am not smart enough to read what the other calculator is telling me so I guess I go 600lbs. Sound stiff as I have a 400lbs on the 5th element but they are different shocks and who am to argue with engineers. Can't wait to try it out.
