it's Fox, that surprises you. They might finally be figuring out that they are the worst "news" networks since the TV was invented.
Does anyone actually watch that garbage?

Keep in mind that Fox News is carrying it, ust not the Fox "regular" broadcast (ie NBC/CBS/ABC).

Defending Fox is not something I regularly engage in, but I think in THIS case Rupert is just following the $$$, something he's always done (yes, even with Fox News). It'll pay more to run whatever crap-laden horsh!t he always has rather than real programming, especially during sweeps week.

If only the average (retarded) American would realize that news networks are only in business these days to make advertising dollars and pander to the average American instead of presenting a semblance of the truth to them.

it's fox....not fox news....big fvcking deal.
the big fvcking deal is that it's the first time in history a network has refused a major presidential speech. You can say it's about the money all you want, but then you have to explain why it has never been done before.

what will be interesting will be seeing how well "lie to me " does. its not like the president won't be hard to find on other stations.
It will do really well. Plenty of folks that wouldn't have watched Fox will check it out while trying to channel surf away from the speech.

It's a shrewd strategic move, in that it will introduce a lot of new folks to the show (in the middle of sweeps), and is a total crowd pleaser for the hard-right Fox fans.

But it is also a major violation of ethics for part of the unfortunately unwritten agreement when you lease public airwaves.

You might want to clarify that this is the first time in history that a network ahs refused a major presidential speech that was requested to be aired by the White House.

The networks didn't cover Bush's '04 speech, but:

The Bush administration has not requested the Big Four to air live the president’s address to an audience at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Penn., scheduled for 8 p.m. EDT on the last Monday of the May sweep, a crucial period when networks chase high ratings in order to set ad rates.

I imagine the Family Guy is going to be up for some FCC violations soon, considering that the Supreme Court just ruled that a network is liable if someone in an unscripted show says ****.

It's certainly a snub, but a big deal? Sounds like hyperbole to me. A big deal would be if the networks were forced to carry the speech.

Yeah, it's a snub. So what?

Fox is anti-Obama?

Ratings mean more than national news?

People don't care?

Personally, I am not going to watch it, but I will read the recap the day after.

Not a big deal for most people but when you consider there are a lot of people in this country that do not pay for television. Without sattelite I only get NBC over the air. I'm sure there are people who only get FOX. Growing up we only got NBC, Fox and PBS.

At what point did true unbiased journalism begin to disappear in this country ? It is undeniable that advertising dollars and big business dramatically effect what news channels report, but this is going too far.

The bias happens when people have several options. If every news network provided honest unbiased journalism the only way to differentiate your product is either to do some hard core investigative journalism or become an off center characature. The money obviously goes to biased drivel.
