Hey, I have a Fox Vanilla RC. Just yesterday I started to feel a distinct klunk when the rear shock made it about half-way through its travel (full travel = 5 inches). Today I went out, and now I can hear a klunk with every compression too.

The shock has served me well for 6 full seasons (its a 2000 model) so I wouldn't be suprised if it was just roasted. But I am wondering if anyone has any more specific info about what is causing this... and its always worth checking the slim possibility that it is fixable. Thanks.

After 6 years it could probably use a rebuild. But, when my bike started making clunk noises, it turned out to be the upper mounting hardware. It had gotten rounded out and the bushings in the shock eyelet were all worn out, enough so the shock moved around in the mount. It's worth checking out before spending money on a rebuild!

I ended up getting new hardware and a shock rebuild from Push, no problems since.
