I did urban on mine, but I wasn't pushing it doing DJ or park, just trail and urban. I sold it at the year mark so I don't know if it would have ultimately broken.
Compared to any comparable fork out there I think the Vanilla is equally capable for any type of riding.
I was merely trying to demonstrate the inevitable result of using a XC fork for hardcore use (which is what young Mobius had done). A DJ, while not indestructable, would be a far superior choice.
My buddy used a Fox Vanilla for urban, and broke it after about 9 months of use. Now keep in mind that he's 24 and rides like a pro. So he pounded onit pretty hard...
Definetly don't get one. As DBR posted i broke mine and it was after 10 months of heavy use then like 6 of just XC and light djing. I had lots of troubles with the insides of the fork as the first time it was rebuilt it came back feeling like **** completely hard and not how it did. I then got it rebuilt before i built up my heckler adn the first weekend of rough riding it saw it exploded. I then let it sit there all summer while i was gone on a trip with mr dbr. Came back and was going to sell it and it broke when i was pulling on out with my hands to see if it had a crack and it blew up in my face.
Don't get a DJ, I have one and wish I had saved a little longer and bought a vanilla. DJ wiegh alot and don't feel very good. For the money they wor but it would have been worth it to me to buy somthing a little nicer.

ya i dont know why the DJ was mentioned (ahhh, marketing...), since it has the bottom of the barrel damping. A QR-20 Z1 would seem more analogous to the Vanilla performance-wise.
what about a sherman? i have a sherman jumper and it is super smooth, but then again its at manitou right now getting the rebound deal fixed after it blew up only seeing 1 month of riding. so uhh ill have to get back to you on the wholemanitou thing.
