I was wondering which frames use a 165mm hub in 2005 ?
And second, why do some companys prefer the 150mm over the 165mm (some in combination with a 100mm BB ?)
For example : the Kona Stab Primo/Supreme it was 165mm in '04 and 150mm in '05
I'm sure there are others but I know there is the Nicolai uMPire and...
the Be One Team DH....
I'm not that much a big fan of 165mm spaced rear. The wide spread puts the rear der region closer to ground/rocks when leaned in that direction. Overall, it doesn't really bother me and it looks friggin cool being THAT W----- I------ D------ E.
oh my gawd, I just noticed in that pic that we're finally getting some sun....
This is what we've been riding to lately..
I think afew spacing were tested in the past few years and 150mm is slowly becomming the standard...just like when there was 1 1/8" and 1 1/4" headset in the 90's
I think you'll see more 150-165mm at the most rear hub spaced. Plus the addition of standard 12mm+ size axles and that makes things ubber stiff.
The ONLY problem with going to such wide spacings or different standards is it takes companies some time to make new products or if they even decide to make them at all. Hell look at King......the up the price of everything but still to this day don't offer anything wider than 135mm, no TA hubs, and last no 1.5 headset. Even 150+ rear spaced hubs you're limited on options (hadley, hope, ringle, DT swiss) but it's all a matter of time. The standard will change
Foes Mono is 160 I believe...its so that they can run a dishless rear wheel and a floater...ie most dishless rear wheels are about 150...plus the 10-15mm for the floater.
