I find this incredibly hard to believe but then again it is the French.

This is the same country that berated us for invading Iraq. I think that there biggest fear must have been that the invasion would have driven more Muslims to France.

Isn't preventing people wearing what their religion requires them to bringing the issue of religion into schools anyway?

That is, a rule stating a turban cannot be worn is a rule based on a religious premise.

i actually never recognized any direction of this debate. That said, i would much rather be above the fray, but whenever the french is a topic, i get a bit snippy.
