the beloved Young Convservatives of Texas. let me tell you...these guys have more friends than...well, than anyone. especially here at the quite liberal University of Texas. i think they're in the market for making more friends, too.

Well, the YCT (Young Conservatives of Texas) are at it again. This time they've organized a so-called "Immigrant Hunt" for this Wednesday, March 2nd on the West Mall on campus-- they have reserved the space from 11:00am-1:00pm. They recently organized a similar event at the University of North Texas

The UT chapter of the Young Conservatives of Texas will be holding an "Immigrant Hunt" on the West Mall, this Wednesday March 2nd at 12:00 noon.

The theatrical event was described in a recent article by the San Diego
Union Tribute: "a mock roundup of illegal immigrants in which some of the
students wear shirts that say "Illegal Immigrant'' and "Catch me if U
can,'' and those who nab them are rewarded with candy bars."

by the way, i might tend to the right, but these guys bug me sometimes. i ignore them, but others feel the need to give them the attention they are craving.

i kinda wonder, though....if you were a non-white parent of a kid, were visiting UT, and saw this going on, what would you think?

What they don't tell you about their "immigrant hunt" is that after they catch an illegal, they give them amnesty, a path toward citizenship, and a job - at least that's what Dubya would have them do. Damn bleeding heart Republicans!

I'm an Austin Native. Born and Raised. I lived in Westlake all my life and my mom and Family still lives there. I guess I'm just used to it. I visit all the time and I love it. I am all for the slogan..."Keep Austin Weird"
I think Leslie makes the point of that slogan...
