So, I got the new wheels for my son to replace the 7-speed freewheel and go 9-speed. When I clamp the wheel in the dropouts, the freehub gets very stiff and no longer spins. The wheel spins fine though. Haven’t seen this before. Thoughts?

The internet says it looks like the axle spacer that prevents the freehub from being squished with the axle may be missing :/ Gah.

I was about to suggest a missing or misplaced spacer, too.
I guess I’ll try to pop this open and have a look. Everything on the outside is smooth - no nuts or anything. Suggests it just pulls apart? Will see.
