Hoping for early to mid- February to start skiing some easy groomers. I suspect the rest of this season may be the same. Which is OK, since skiing easy groomers is better than not skiing. :D
That's great to hear, honestly. :)

And you are welcome to hang out at my house--got the hot tub, after all! and make it a short day.

@SkaredShtles great to hear the positive updates. I expect that my back will need a tune up in the future too. My last disc trim was about 10 years ago…so, I figure it’s all but inevitable, bc I too do “activities” that most 50+ years old don’t / probably shouldn’t.

to be fair, early mobilization and actually strengthening your paraspinal muscles instead of letting them wither away is probably good, extrapolating from my reading of the knee literature that I was suddenly interested in in 2023 after my meniscus repair.
My shoulder strength training at times involves an isolated low back, where weights become raised, held for a count of 5, and returned inside an angled standing rack. A test of my progress, showed paraspinal training benefit - something rarely ever paid attention to doing standard grunt moves for so long.
Goes very slowly, is good to improve upon for better isolation above and below the hips.

Short day. Hot tub. Sounds enticing. :D

QFT - my back issues have been pretty much chronic, but when I couldn't stand without horrific referred pain in my hip-joint, I knew it was probably time to get some more knife work done. And hopefully I'll be back doing dumb shit by summer. :homer:

Just spent 3 hours at the museum here, damn. Oops. Time to get boogying to Canada.

Very cool museum though. I didn't even have a chance to read a fraction of the stuff there. More aircraft than I had imagined.

like mountain biking in Michigan ?
Yeah... kinda like that. Except there's some solace in being in the mountains, even if you're just skiing groomers...

I have only been to one strip club ever, for a bachelor’s party. It definitely did NOT whet any kind of appetite, at all. I thought the whole (heh) thing was pretty sad.
I, also, have only been to a strip club once. And it just seemed all so useless, what with the internet full of porn. :D

Groomers plus skinny-ish 15 m radius skis (like my Stöcklis!) is fun, too, imo

They are, but that’s setting the bar, er pole, pretty low. Hooters is gross on several levels.
the one in town is shuttered....

occasionally you would see the talent in the gas station stocking up on cigarettes

did not inspire any gonadal exertion...

For me it was blacking out from the pain that resulted from a sneeze…while I was towing a 10K trailer…loaded with fruit…through downtown…

That seems... less than ideal. :panic:

Which disc did you blow out and have cleaned up/shaved? Both times my herniation has resulted in disc material wandering up (first time) or down (this time) and impinging root nerves. Which is *also* less than ideal.

I don’t remember exactly. The tiny little incision(s?) was below my belt line…?

I do remember that it was disc impingement on the nerve. Doc also said they did a little arthritis cleanup while he was in there. I don’t recall the exact details, but bone growth from arthritis had decreased the available volume for the disc or nerve bundle.

Knock on wood other than the very mild chronic pain and occasional flare ups, it ain’t too bad. How’s that for a glowing report?

Dancin' over rocks n' roots!
Afternoon. Still cold here but marginally warmer without the wind. Oldest is back to school for 2nd semester (classes start Monday). Lots of music on tap for the weekend at All County chorus with some students and then lessons. Stay warm and safe CA monkeys!

Zesty roads out there now. 4 accidents on the interstate in Detroit.

Now in no man's land heading towards London.

This rental without snow tires is less than ideal. Wish I had my AWD VW with the Nokians right about meow.

Back from a 2-day workshop. Brainstorming marine/maritime research needs and ideas for the next 10 years with a bunch of folks from other disciplines is really pushing your creativity and is wicked fun. Now let us see if we can make some of that happen.

Took the cat to the vet. Then it started raining. Whatever that means, I don't know. Currently eating pho and thinking about taking a night hike.

On holiday at Lake Taupō. (Toe-paw).
This is soon to be my dinner. Beetle the cow, my friend’s recently deceased lifestyle block Jersey/something cross.

It looks like our friend might still have a house. She's just south-east of the burn zone of the Palisades fire in Santa Monica and it's burning west. She's in the mandatory evacuation zone, but it's looking good right now. My client also made it, but close too. Not sure about the others though.
