It's cold out, but that's OK. Love driving into work now. Glad I didn't buy a 500hp car. Got dinner plans with the wife on Saturday, should be OK

Good Morning!!

Pig My Fish... office Christmas party at the bowling alley last night. I drank a lot in the presence of an overwhelming amount of non-drinkers. I'm not sure if it was the best career decision I've ever made, but I left with my pants on and they did let me back into the building this morning....

Mornin!

Made a delicious beef Wellington for dinner last night. This later morphed into beef smellington when the farts came. No matter, it was worth it.

Here. Watching the construction outside while waiting for today to be over. Why can't January get here so that I can formally apply for the product management position? We all know it's coming. My manager already told somebody else they will be getting my corner window seat.

Headed to NYC for the weekend.
Wifey surprised me and the boys with tickets for the Ellis Island hard hat tour, basically government sanctioned ruin porn.
Soup dumplings, maybe a broadway show and hanging with old friends also on tap.

4 am and I am doing the dead guys route today.. off work by noon...win
win becasue not dead guy?!

I got out for my first fatbike ride of the season last night. this is surprising because the bike was in rough condition in the morning. it had fallen off the back of a buddies rack on the last ride of the season this spring, and I needed to replace the bars and the seat, and maybe the derailleur. I put the bars and seat on the night before, and was hoping the derailleur would work. but it didn't. No problem, I had the XO derailleur and shifter that I took off my Transition last year. I figured I'd do that in the morning, but when I went to put them on, I realized the cassette was a 10sp, and my XO is 11sp. :doh:I had just enough time to swing by my lbs to grab an SLX cassette before I had to pick up the kids at forest school. then it was a race to get home to swap cassettes, install derailleur and shifter, and get it all adjusted. oh, and plug the batteries for my lights in too, since I'd forgotten to do that the night before...:doh:luckily, I had plugged them in after the last ride, so they just needed a top-up. :dirol:

In the end, I'm glad I got it all sorted out since conditions were surprisingly decent. just enough snow to cover the forest floor and fill in the space between roots and rock. not too much open water either. hand still hurts like hell. though the pain didn't carry through to this morning, so I'm hoping that riding won't delay healing. I'll call that a win. I can deal with the pain, I just don't want to prolong recovery unnecesarily. We hit a local pub afterwards that serves my favourite local beer. Got to reminisce with a couple of my Ecuador travel buddies too. It was a good way to end the day.

It's the investment management product that I use now. Given that I am the knowledge base for the system logic on the sales floor, moving to the product side makes sense as I'm burning out. I will be back-end instead of customer facing.

If you think customer facing job is stressful, you are in for a surprise. Product management is for masochists who like to be punished on a daily basis. Forget about it if positive feedback and gratification makes you tick.

Consultant here at work just sat down next to me while I was trying to eat lunch and started asking work questions. As I was answering with food in my mouth, he didn't see the salmon I accidentally spit on his shirt while he was typing.

Investment customer facing, in what will likely be an upcoming bear market, where 40% of my pay is based on retaining business. Or... Product Management where everybody who has moved from my role is in a far happier role. The primary position will be based around two projects: 1. moving our existing primary investment platform in-house (coordination between mgmt, Morningstar, development), and 2. linking of existing website to new investment platform (designed for one another).

I feel like an idiot. Yard called to say my seat was at will call. LKQ is 15 minutes away from the office in the wrong direction. Figured I would grab it at lunch, so I duck out. Find out will call is now in the warehouse that is located 5 minutes from my office on the way home.

Guess I will grab it after work.

Just as the floor sanding is done in the bedroom looks like I have water leaking in by the new window and door unit installed this summer. Second time I have had water problems on freshly sanded floors not good news on a friday night. At least I am insured and I have not paid the contractor all his money but would rather be without anymore bullshit.

Talked to my Lawyer today. He reluctantly met with me. It seems his age has caught up with him sadly. Now I have to find a new Lawyer. Fuckity Fuck.
