looks interesting. it would be hard to produce it cheaply, and would probably come out for road several years before mountain. mavic tried electronic shifting with servo-operated derailleurs and even got them into production a few years back, but they never caught on. I rode a cannondale equipped with them one time, and the whole drivetrain went haywire when i rode by a set of power transformers-- interference with the shifter signal.

still: "innovate or die!"

yeah, haven't ridden Di2 yet though. As much as i dislike shimano, they didn't try to make their system wireless, which is probably a good thing. I just can't learn to love those 7900 cranks though. . . uuugggggggggglllllyyyyyyy.

There were rumors flying around the time that patent was filed that FSA was going to come out with a complete road groupo.....I'll believe it when I see it.

<edit> BTW, Shimano has a patent on a 14 speed cassette...doesn't mean we'll see it in production

I bet we see a sneak peak of the group at the Tour, on maybe one person's bike. 11spd was the rumor. I didn't see any pics or protos at any of the last trade shows, they're playing it pretty close to the vest.

I remember seeing that patent thing last year sometime though.

Re: Shimano's patent. A lot of times stuff like that takes quite a while to perfect/make production ready. I'd expect to see something like that on a city bike vs. a road or MTB, but that's just me, I'm not sure though.
