FSR frame differences

Hola,

I'm in the process of putting together my first bike; I found a 99FSR frame and am wondering if there are any differences between the frames, specifically between the Sport/Comp models. I believe, after looking over the models in person last night, that the difference lies in the components?

Regardless, I picked up the FSR sport last night and am going to go about upgrading all the parts tonight. It's going to be primarily for singletrack and XC, weekend warrior type...and probably will be for drops under 5'.

Thanks -

Welcome to Ridemonkey. :dancing:

99% of the time, model lines consist of a single frame, and a different parts spec. The only time as far as I'm aware that Specialized has deviated from this is when they offer an "S-Works" model that's sometimes made of different materials.

So, yeah, you're good - the comp & sport frames (as long as they're from the same model year) are the same. They might have a different rear shock on them, but that's replacable.

Thanks binary...that's what I was figuring. The bikes are a year apart, but the frames look identical (same size, same welds, same specs). The rear shocks are different, but those will be replaced too. I did see some other really awesome frames at great prices, but those will have to wait.

If the webmasters check where their traffic comes from...I was referred by a moderator of another forum. He was right too - a wealth of info here.
