Hi Everyone,

At my place of employment, my customer care team has a hole that needs to be filled. My supervisor and boss have requested that I begin my search for this new employee through coworkers, family, friends, acquaintences and so forth. In addition to my family and those friends who are saved in my email, I thought I might also post the "help wanted" ad here (I checked with the head monkey-dude himself and he said go for it).

The next post will contain the Job Description.

The individual we're looking for should be bright and cheerful, a critical thinker; someone who is motiviated by helping others reach the materials that they need. We want a good "fit" for our team, someone who will be with us for a long time to come.

Please carefully review the following job description.

Individuals who would like to apply for the position may send a cover letter and copy of their resume to me by email: jennifer@transact.com; fax: (425) 977-2083; or physical mail: 8423 Mukilteo Speedway, Suite 100, Mukilteo, WA 98275.

I will begin conducting initial interviews of appropriate applicants as soon as possible. We are looking to fill this position within the next 4 weeks, and have them trained shortly afterwards.

Initial interviews may be held over the phone to screen individuals by their clarity in communication and phone presence. I will invite those individuals best suited for the position on paper and by phone in for a direct interview with me and my supervisor.

Please post questions or requests for additional information here. I will be monitoring this thread on a regular basis.

Thanks everyone! :thumb:

WTF you have to have a college degree for a entry level customer service position??!?!
:) Good man! I wholeheartedly agree that a college degree is not "necessary" to be more than competent for the position.
If I can find someone who is fully qualified who does not have a degree, they will be considered.

The request to have that listed as a "preferred" value came from the owner of the company. One area where my company is quite different from most who provide customer service for their customers is the level of service our customers receive. The owner of the company wants that tradition of excellence to continue.

If anyone is interested in the position who does not have said degree or levels of experience, please PM me privately for a more in-depth discussion.

A degree in what?
As with most jobs, employers are looking to see if you have one, not necessarily that it's applicable. Old schoolers tend to be of the opinion that college is supposed to teach you valuable skills in critical thinking, communication, and analysis. Beyond that, fresh out of college students are supposed to be "moldable" if they have no prior working experience.

My degree is in International Relations, it applies only in that our company works with multiple language materials. I do well at my job, not because of my degree, but in part because of my experiences when earning it, and because I actively held professional positions before and during my collegiate years.

Other degrees that might seem "more" applicable are, or that others who have held this position are: Business Management; Marketing; English; and IT.

:) Excellent :thumb:

And yes, the typing at a reasonable pace with good accuracy is a must with this job. If, in all other areas, the individual chosen for the position is excellent, then we will provide said individual with an opportunity to improve their typing while on the job.
