For being such a bunch of macho guys who generally think they are cooler/manlier than everyone, you guys are spending a lot of time checking these guys' packages.

I'd agree with that statement IF it was made 5-7 years ago when A) XC courses were still truly "cross country" and B) DH courses were much tamer and featured much more pedalling.
Im not saying that your point is not a good one but Mickey has some pretty valid points as well. I doubt that the members of the U23 Road team could get on a DH bike tommorrow and beat most downhillers but I bet that they wouldnt be too far off. And with some time and experience they would be at the top in almost no time. The idea for roadies to switch is a bit far off in my mind (deffinately possible) but the XC guys could do it easily. Look at the XC guys doing Super D this year. They killed every downhiller at every race where there was a good population of each represented. Adam Craig is one of those riders with a weeks worth of experience on a DH bike would win Semi Pro and have some damn good times in Pro. Barry Wicks is another one of these kind of riders that comes to mind. I think once they realise that downhill courses are not really as gnarly and hardcore as everyone makes them out to be we will start seeing alot of crossover riders again.
