I bought a new pair of DC's to replace my worn out Manteca's, but they just look so, new and shiny....

What is the best way to make them look used, mud puddles? run them over a few times?

Go stand in a stream/puddle (soak your shoes all the way through), and wear 'em dry when you're out and about (i.e. not sitting at home watching TV).

It'll take away that new shoe shine, it'll break 'em in to fit your feet, and it'll put a few creases in them...

coal dust
I found that out this weekend.

I got my nice new DC's all dirty with coal dirt and it really stuck to all the non-plasticy parts.
