Hello All:

Anyone who has been riding Galbraith for any amount of time knows that the place we are lucky enough to recreate is a working commercial forest. From time to time, we have seen and will see varying impacts to our trail system as harvesting occurs.

The new landowner, Polygon, is undertaking a new forestry plan with an eye to making the tree farm on Galbraith a sustainable forestry area. This is generally good news as it means more selective thinning and less full on clear cutting. As the process begins there will need to be some more aggressive thinning and removal of timber in order to get rotations ready for a long term sustainable yield.

The forester, Janicki, will begin logging this week on areas west of the pipeline road. Trails to be impacted will be Art's, Kaya, Bunny Trails, Old Issues. The harvest should take approximately one month. In March the east side of the pipeline road with see impact-the Lost Giants, Evil Twin, Mole Trap and potentially Rock N Roll.

Tin Rock Management, Polygon and Janicki have all been very forthcoming with their intentions and are including us in the short term and long term planning in order to minimize impact to trails and recreation. We are extremely lucky to have a relationship that allows for this to happen.

We meet again next week to go over the long term (15 year) harvest plan and will have a better idea of what it means for what trails on the mountain and when. We will post any and all information as soon as we have it available.

As we have so often said....we're fortunate to have our chosen mecca of trails being in an area zoned commercial forestry instead of the next massive housing development! And just as we have done multiple times over our history, we will begin to clear and rebuild the impacted trails as soon as possible after harvest.

As harvest occurs, it is very important we are respectful to the workers and observe all safety signs and trail closures.

Thanks to everyone for your cooperation and understanding.

Cheers,
