Why is everyone afraid of a little economic destruction? I think a decade of economic "nuclear winter" might be good for the vast majority of Americans...
Wife's in the oil exploration biz.Watch what you wish for. You might end up having to get a job, hippie.
We are not talking about patchouli here.Wife's in the oil exploration biz.
I don't think shifting away from oil will destroy our economy, we may experience a decade of no growth (think Japan). The big problem I see, and I know people like this, is that people think there is enough oil for business to continue as usual and that OPEC is just trying to screw us all. If we hold to beliefs like that the shift will be slow and long. I had a guy I know tell me that the reason gas prices were coming down was because Bush had a done some backhanded dealing with the Saudis....my mouth dropped open and I didn't even know what to say. This guy and I took Econ together, apparently he still doesn't understand the concept of demandHuge headaches = destroyed economy
yeah. they say it's the government's policy of destroying the value of the US dollar against other currencies.a lot of experts say it isnt supply and demand that's forcing the price up
Nice! That's the American spirit. Just throw up your hands and starve because you can't drive your truck to the store. Absolutely brilliant!<snip>
"No gas. What will we do? We won't be able to do anything. We can't go to work. We can't do anything," one driver said.
uh what's wrong with thatNice! That's the American spirit. Just throw up your hands and starve because you can't drive your truck to the store. Absolutely brilliant!
Nothing.uh what's wrong with that
Nothing.
We could probably do with a lot less humans with that sort of attitude.

Sounds like if they continue thinking like this, they may start losing weight.
7-11 will be charging $15/bag of Cheetos to pay for the transportation cost.

:facepalm:In Douglas County, Ga., the police issued a request for motorists to stop calling 911 for help finding open gas stations. A county spokeswoman said the calls could interfere with the ability to handle emergencies.
In Atlanta, where sprawl forces lengthy commutes, drivers shook their heads in disbelief over around-the-block lines at stations, $4-per-gallon prices and the prospect of two more weeks of problems.
“At first I was a good sport, but this is getting ridiculous,” said Marsha Lewis, 43, an administrative assistant who lives in Dacula, Ga., and commutes to Atlanta. “I drive an hour to work every day, and looking for gasoline has become my entire life.”
Beethoven's 9th Symphony by any chance?Just turn the classical music up louder.
That sucks, I wonder why the reduction in refining isn't affecting the rest of us? Don't most places get their gas from the refineries in the South?
Around here most of the refining is done locally... right about here. That sucks, I wonder why the reduction in refining isn't affecting the rest of us? Don't most places get their gas from the refineries in the South?
