I'd say The Wizz is moist in general. Compared to Colorado. Nothing like goggles fogging up while waiting for the bears to get off the trail.

If you go, post pics. I have been. Good times.

I had a trip booked a couple years ago, but then covid shut it all down. So. Boo.

They didn’t do the fall season pass last year. I doubt they’ll do it this year. Just letting you know in the chance that’s what you’re hoping for.

Are the ZEB bolt on mudguards not compatible with the new Fitz lifts? Or is it just the Fox ones that cause problems?

I will be headed up in a couple weeks. God I hope we get some cool weather and moisture while we are there...

Also need fender info, was thinking about getting the RRP mini to replace my RRP mid for the trip.

Any must do valley/off-piste trail recommendations? I've ridden quite a few the last two trips but I've never done some of the classics.

Any feedback on -
Howler
Lord of the Squirrels
Khyber-Kashmir-Kush
Green Monster

Worth the hassle?

We really enjoy Lord of the Squirrels. Long slog to the top but you get a gorgeous alpine zone for your effort, including lakes for a dip if that's your thing, and fun trails down. Not as aggro as your triple black/red descents but a nice change of pace. If you're used to pedaling and not riding chairlifts all the time, it's almost like a rest day as compared to getting hammered by endless park laps.

Khyber-Kasimir-Kush is best ridden off top of the world.

I don’t really find khyber-middle-Kashmir that great. But some love it. It’s a big ride in itself with lots of steep punchy climbs dotting the downhill. Downhill bikes strongly not advised. Kush is sick though.

green monster is rad. Worth it for sure.

howler is one I haven’t done, but always heard great things.
I’ve never done LotS.

not on your list, but should be
Cheap Thrills
Rockwork Orange-Korova Milk Bar-wizard burial ground.

I love Green Monster, that one isn't much of a hassle at all. I forget exactly where the trail pops out but it's in a neighborhood over that way. Park where it dumps out and pedal up to it.

I enjoyed Up and Away and Pigs on the Wing after lower LotS. Lots of good slab stuff in there, like Green Monster. All of that is just fantastic.

Not sure if they're considered "off-piste" but the stuff on Blackcomb is worth checking out as well, like Dark Crystal. Also Handlebar at the base of Blackcomb for beer and pizza apres.

Bring on the weekend in the north end is the go to these days for most people. There's also some newer/betterer stuff in the Green Monster area in Alpine Meadows, Zanarchy/Garg is always good to get your fix of uber-gnar. West Side below Squirrels I think Unicorn Petting Zoo/Fantastic Mr. Fox is one of my favourite combos. See PM for alternate peak lap suggestion.

Did Rockwork-KMB-WBG last year. Mate survived all the spicy stuff and then shinned himself on the ride out and needed stitches.

Will suss Cheap Thrills. Cheers

Absolutely, Dark Crystal was mint last year, hopefully its dry this year. I wanna go back. Crazy Train, Microclimate etc were dope also. Was a 5 min pedal to the start of the climb for us last year so did Blackcomb a bit.

unpopular opinion, but I think DC is potentially the most overrated trail in Whistler. Starts pretty good then just turns into pretty chunky chunder fest.

Also, tis the season for hornet and wasp ground nests, savage little fuckers

I got stung in the cheek the long weekend riding Zappa Trails with the kiddos. Yes savage fucks.

I have the exact same opinion. I was fortunate enough to ride it early on and it was much better. Went back a few years ago and it was pretty shitty tbh. I guess that's what traffic will do.

I get that there is such an embarrassment of options in Whistler (and the Sea-to-Sky generally) that a trail like DC can be seen as just meh to some. I think part of it is the need to pedal up there, i.e., the bang-for-your-buck analysis compared to all the lift-accessible stuff. Personally, although it's true that it's gotten hammered a bit over the years, it's still a hoot, especially when conditions are good.

Well said. The trail isn't 'meh' almost anywhere else, it's in comparison to the competition around the Valley. Headed out there Friday, can't wait!

Just got back from 5 days at whistler, can confirm it's still fun and Vail has not bulldozed the mountain like some forums will have you believe. We got some rain and had some wet days but they didn't bother us, the park rides great in the rain. Was even better the days after when it started to tack out. I'd say whistler is better than ever these days.

Special props to my wife who has been riding DH for 3 years. Rode the big roll on joyride for the first time, SNAPPED her linkage on the rollout and rode it out. The un-fun part was walking back up joyride to the gondi.

Damn, glad she rode that out.

How does that even happen?
