I have no idea how it even happens, she is a light rider and is by no means 'smashing' through anything. You should have seen the looks as we were walking it back up, total 'WTF' faces ha! Best part was we both were thinking in our heads this would be the 'last run' of our visit and didn't vocalize it to each other. Thank god this happened at the end of our time and it wasn't worse.

Is it possible that her shock was too soft and it was bottoming out putting high peak loads into the rocker? I don't think it is unreasonable for a newer rider to progress a lot on a trip like that and require a very different setup at the end of a trip than at the beginning.

It might be old Ellsworth stock lol!

Westy - That's not a bad thought, to be honest I didn't look at her setup the entire trip. Whistler has a tendency to quickly bring riders up to a speed they didn't have prior to being there. Working on a replacement linkage or frame depending on warranty situations now. We have an upcoming New England park trip to do in October.

Any must do valley/off-piste trail recommendations? I've ridden quite a few the last two trips but I've never done some of the classics.

Any feedback on -
Howler
Lord of the Squirrels
Khyber-Kashmir-Kush
Green Monster

Worth the hassle?

Just got back from a couple weeks. Didn't get up to Khyber unfortunately - got told Top of the World was closed then found out it was still running but we had to pedal to the lift from Garbo lift, but then they closed it the next day. Bugger. Park laps were a little ho hum to be honest. Lots of trails closed which was annoying. Got to the container jump and every trail was shut so had to go down the fireroad to Too Tight.

One riding buddy blew a foot off on Microclimate and ended up with a trip ending ankle ligament tear on my first day - they shipped home early via travel insurance. Hats off to Whistler Medical centre - good people.

Did all of the Westside stuff - High Society, Cheap Thrills (bloody timber skinnys!!!) AC|DC, Bush Doctor etc.

Skipped Green Monster because of the rain and did a slippery Billy Epic cruiser for a giggle.

Standouts were Bring on the Weekend, plus going up to Rutherford and doing PHD/Stache/Whiskey in the Jar. Squamish laps were bloody good, as were Watershed beers.

*edit* bloody hell I gotta say I love the handbuilt trail signs over there. They look brilliant and are such a nice touch compared to the stale boring government signs you see. Hats off to the trail builders and the sign makers

How was cheap thrills? I haven't ridden that trail probably 10 years. Is that first ladder roll in thing still there? Super fun when I rode it.

I found it fun, but very janky. Would suit a smaller bike or hardtail better than a 170mm Enduro. Lots of little ladder bridges and stuff, one nice pretty one across a creek. Nothing super gnarly in there. The climb isn't too bad either - I struggled to clear Darwin's on the first lap, but it was my second day at anything higher than sea level, plus I was chasing an ebike on the climb up. Got it fine the next time through.

The creek bridge is awesome glad that is still there.

Sorry you had closures up there we had a couple we didn't like on O-sin etc. That 5 point junction was open though (below the container). Love me some duffman, noduff, mckenzie, renegade, and more duff. Might be some of the best trails in the bike park.

we won't mention the best kept secret they all dump into.

The creek bridge had an A line and B line but the A was broken at the end which made for a nervous balancing act to get past haha. The steeper wooden feature that brings you into the creek was also a bit slippery with leaves and stuff but survivable - I don't think that trail had much traffic prior to our visit, but it could just be late season leaves falling.

almost forgot - rode some trail in the park called Patrol Rock. DO NOT RECOMMEND if its been raining! Holy shitballs. Traumatised to say the least.

Lineups were long today boy! Jeeeesus....

Saturday and Sunday were beautiful. Usually a busy weekend because it's Canexican Thanksgiving. But of course, Whistler decided to close Creekside and the Garbo zone around Sept 20th. Makes perfect sense!! So everyone and their dog was stuck in the Fitz zone with the single chairlift.
