anyone else paying attention to what's going on here in PA?

tl;dr - state supreme court has struck down current congressional map because it favors the GOP. they have until next week to redraw it, they tried to appeal to the US supreme court (who refused) and now want to impeach the state supreme court. have also outright stated they will refuse to comply.

this is gonna be interesting.

interesting re: crap here in nc. have you seen the district map they had to redraw? they’re still tussling over it and even with a much longer runway until the next election it looks like it might mess up primaries.

our state supreme court ruled that is has to be in place for this year's primarys (which are in may i think)

PA is considered one of the worst gerrymandered states in the country.

Washington has a democratic majority. You'd think it would be gerrymandered in favor of the left. It doesn't look like it. Borders mostly share a county line, sometimes a mountain range.

In California we passed an initiative that took the politicians out of redistricting. It is now done by a citizen committee and must follow population and geographic lines to created districts with similar populations sizes irrespective of party or racial lines (must follow rules set forth by Federal and state courts for representation of all groups)
