What kind of stuff do you guys do to make your DHing better?

Ive been doing some upper body stuff and chest stuff. Im not to concerned on legs though. What are some good muscle groups to work on, i dont really know allot about muscles, ive just been doing 20 claping pushups, 10 pull ups and 30 crunches every day. :think:

ride more dh. That's pretty much what will make you faster.

If you wanna work on your beach muscles, do bench presses.

Beach muscles? whats a beach muscle?



edit: oh haha. like a show off muscle. ;) gotcha.

Get a fit ball, ride cross country and road. I am by no means "training for DH" or for anything for that matter but by increasing your core muscle strength and your endurance you will improve your capability in just about any sport.

I started riding the trainer or the road bike 3-4 days a week, using the fit ball 3 days a week for crunches, oblique crunches, leg lifts and back extensions. Also I am doing pushups and curls 3 days a week.

Oh yeah, I do this one exersize that i thought of (probably not the first though ;) )where i ride up a hill hard on my xc bike outa the saddle with one hand on the bar, seems to be working at coordnation and strength. I also try track standing with one arm and poping wheelies.

I'm kind of in the same boat; while I ride the trainer and XC during the winter, I still need to strengthen my upper body so I'm starting with some basics

You should be concerned with your legs, thats where all your power comes from. And you should also try and work out your abs and back muslces as that where alot of your turning power comes from ie flicking the bike in a corner.

I found that these two are the hardest groups to get strong, i found it easy to build up my arm and chest muscles but i found it didn't really help me with DH that much. It also added between 5-10kg to my body weight which makes you heavier = slower acceleration = slower times

I have been doing alot of road riding on my jump bike, i ride 45mins each way to work every day (about 170km per week). I have lost almost 10kg, mainly from my arms, stomach and chest and my legs are alot stronger. I have found this has helped my DH heaps.

Pull-ups are probably the best upper body exercise that builds functional strength. If you are doing 10 pull ups a day in one set, try doing 5 sets of 7 reps for 35 total, resting about 2 minutes between each set. Do this every other day to give your muscles time to recover. As they become easier for you to do add more reps and sets. You can do push ups and crunches on days not doing pull ups. For crunches do 4 sets of 25 for 100 total, more if you can do it. You can also hold a weight on your chest when you do them to make it more difficult. You can add a ton more excercises, but this is a start.

Ill be hittin the gym 3 times a week 45min sessions tuesday and thursday upperbody and a short cardio. saturday I ride with my crew. sunday is lower body and a longer cardio.

and Im sore as hell right now
