Lost in the woods...
I'm looking for some feedback here. I have been on an Ellsworth Isis for two seasons now, but, I just found a sweet deal on an '03 AC2.

I don't know anyone who rides one. My Fox Vanilla r125 will replace the Psylo sh!t box thats on it. But other than the fork, what is the deal with this bike? It seems killer for the $$, and I can sell back most of the OEM pieces that I don't want to the shop (I have a whole spring-season tune up box at home with new bars, shifters, seatpost, casette, rings, chain, cables, grips etc that was meant for the Isis).

Any input would be much apreciated!

Sounds more like a rebuild box.

One thing to note is that the frame will not accept a triple clamp fork (may not be a problem now, but just think of the future.)
I have a friend who rides one with a Monster however, and before that had a Jr. T, and he likes it.

I have had bad luck with Giant. The bike I had, DS2 2000 and 2003, was poorly contructed. The 2003 came with an ovalized head tube. The 2000 was bought as a complete bike, and was rigged with shims. Granted it is an entry level bike, and I have more high end bikes now. I was amazed with the shortcuts taken. Also, I broke the DS2 and Giant was good about warranty.

I've got an '02 AC2 and the only changes I made were to replace the rather heavy Prodigy DH cranks with some XT's I already had and converted the wheels to Stan's Tubeless (same tires). Oh, and upgraded the P.O.S. RockShox Pro-Deluxe to a Fox Vanilla R. It rides very nice, the geometry is well-sorted, and the bike feels very stable. Since you're getting an '03 you won't have to replace the rear shock either! I'd say jump on it. Only issue is, as mentioned, double crowns void the warrenty. However, if you aren't prone to ripping off headtubes and you don't weigh 200+ lbs, you could probably throw one on there with no problem.
